I wonder, if there can be anything greater than flying over Lake Bled. Flying, almost inaudible, high above the lake, overlooking Bled Castle and the island with its church, as can be experienced only by birds… and now us. Few things in life are so unique, so full of energy and excitement, as is a parachute flight over a beautiful lake and its surroundings. This is the real primal thing, when the movement of the air mass and the difference in temperatures create unforgettable moments.

Experience this special Location in a unique way

I have to say, that so far there has not been a tandem parachute flight over Lake Bled for one simple reason - there was no real and safe take-off point. Well, in the fall of 2019, the latter was finally arranged and we began our flights over the lake, which turned out to be a truly unique and safe experience. I can honestly say that I have experienced many “crazy” and unusual things in my life, at different corners of the world and that parachuting over Lake Bled is most definitely one of them. You really experience this special location in a unique way - you get a lot closer to the views and sensations that birds experience in the sky. In short, a really priceless adventure high above the lake.

A sense of weightlessness and freedom

The first time I actually got to know paragliding was three decades ago, when my friends and I flew from different peaks in the Savinja Alps with home-made parachutes. At the time, this adventure did not attract me to the point that it would become an obsession, because I was engaged with so many different sports - climbing, alpinism, skiing, cycling, among other things ... I had too little time for flights that required a whole person. But even then, I experienced all the beautiful things that can be experienced in the air; all those views of the surroundings; the soothing sound of the air; a sense of weightlessness and freedom of sailing. All of this is considered as a great quality and this is exactly what a man seeks.

Flying over Lake Bled is truly a magical things

Last year, after a long time, I once again flew with a parachute, and this time over Lake Bled. I relived all my wonderful feelings, which I also felt in the past. My friend Klemen, who is an experienced pilot, guided a truly wonderful flight with a safe tandem parachute. At first, we drove up to the magnificent woods of Pokljuka in the Triglav Park. From the take-off point on the west side of the Bled Basin we slowly sailed all the way to Lake Bled, circled it on the edge for a few minutes, swirled, went up and down and admired the beauty below. Later, we flew over the lake, right above the island, approached the castle, almost touched it, circled it several times and landed on a meadow in the southwestern part of Bled. Flying with a tandem parachute over Lake Bled, in the company of an experienced pilot, is truly a magical thing. A true, once in a lifetime experience only for the select few. If there is anything really special one can experience in Bled, then I can without a doubt say, that paragliding above the lake is definitely it.
